The family’s Centerville property had an old, neglected farm pond that had become completely overrun with sediment, muck, and vegetation. Bulletproof Pond and Lake completely transformed this unusable space into a stunning 3-acre water feature with natural contours, easy access, and beautiful stonework, creating the perfect getaway spot for family, friends, and wildlife.
This old farm pond had become filled with sediment and muck, overrun with vegetation, and riddled with erosion, muskrat tunnels and dens. It was impossible to walk around, smelled bad, and was completely unusable for recreation. As busy business owners developing their property into a manicured getaway, the homeowners wanted to transform this wasted space into an expansive, beautiful pond where they could escape daily life, entertain family and friends, and enjoy wildlife and peaceful moments by the water.
We performed soil sampling and sent samples to labs for analysis, then conducted a LiDAR survey to map the existing property. Using AutoCAD engineering software, we designed a 3-acre pond with a natural-flowing shape that would integrate seamlessly with the land’s existing contours.
Our team drained and mucked out the old pond, spreading the sediment thin across the downstream pastureland to dry. We massively expanded the pond—nearly 10 times its original size—creating a 10-foot-deep water feature with gentle, zero-entry slopes on two sides.
We installed riprap along the overflow section and simplistic drainage pipes through the dam. Our partners at 4West Inc. added stunning limestone retaining walls, featured rock accents, and dry creek beds to manage runoff and prevent erosion while enhancing the natural aesthetic.
The finished pond features smooth, organic contours that look naturally occurring rather than man-made. The water meets the grass seamlessly, making it easy to walk up to and around.
With spring-fed water, a windmill aerator, and beautiful stonework tying everything together, the family now has the manicured yet timeless retreat they envisioned.
